The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire Weather Watch... which is in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday evening. A red flag warning remains in effect from noon today to 8 PM MDT this evening. A red flag warning remains in effect from 10 am to 11 PM MDT Wednesday.
* Area and timing... northwest Highlands... northeast Highlands... Sandia and Manzano and Gallinas Mountains. Critical conditions will develop by midday today... then diminish near sunset this evening. On Wednesday critical conditions are expected to develop by mid morning... then persist through the late evening hours. On Thursday... critical conditions will develop by midday... then diminish by sunset.
* 20 foot winds... southwest to west sustained at 15 to 30 mph with gusts to around 40 mph this afternoon. Southwest to west winds will increase Wednesday... becoming sustained at 25 to 40 mph with occasional gusts as high as 50 or 60 mph. West winds on Thursday will be sustained at 20 to 35 mph with gusts to around 45 mph.
* Relative humidity... minimums ranging from 5 to 10 percent this afternoon. Humidities fall to 5 to 10 percent by midday Wednesday and persist through late evening. Five to 10 percent minimum rh expected Thursday afternoon.
